The need for swift patrol vessels off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts resulted in the development of the ultimate Baltimore clippers: the Campbell class of 14 revenue cutters. The topsail schooner Jefferson Davis was on of the most famous of them all. Built following the discovery of gold in the Western states, she proved to be fast and powerful enough to discourage smugglers.
The kit contains three sheets of plans, the instruction book, brass and cast Britannia pewter fittings, complete frame set, pre-printed keel, planking, treenails and all the wood needed for the deck and deck structures . . . everything except the paint, glue and tools.
